TOM: Do you worry about her?
HUNTER: Only mostly constantly. Not that she gives me any reason.
TOM: Good grades?
HUNTER: Great grades. Never any trouble.
TOM: Are you and her mother on good terms?
HUNTER: Barbara. We are.
TOM: Does Chloe have a boyfriend? Or girlfriend.
HUNTER: So far as we know, she does not.
TOM: Do you monitor her social media?
HUNTER: To the degree that we can. It's an honor system with evolving terms.
TOM: Are Barbara's parents alive?
HUNTER: They are. John and Jan are retired attorneys in the Paso Robles area.
TOM: Well that ain't too far from San Luis Obispo, is it?
HUNTER: Half-hour.
TOM: Are they in good health?
HUNTER: They are. Swim, hike and golf. John's sister Kate recently married and moved into her husband's house in Wilson, Wyoming.
TOM: I was there a little over a month ago.
HUNTER: Why?
TOM: Fishin' with the fella whose wife Wanda is staying with. Clem and Daisy.
HUNTER: Kate and her husband have a cabin on Fish Creek.
TOM: So does Clem's cousin.
HUNTER: Trout.
TOM: Cutthroat and brown.
HUNTER: Fly.
TOM: Yessir. When's the last time you fished?
HUNTER: Forty years ago. I pulled a catfish out of manmade Lake Clementine.
TOM: In Auburn.
HUNTER: Yes. With my grandfather.
TOM: Do you remember what bait you used?
HUNTER: The cricket he showed me how to put on the hook. Who taught you how to tie and fish with a fly?
TOM: My dad.
HUNTER: Where?
TOM: We fished different places but more often than not the Medina River.
