1. We meet HENRY, 50-something, in his Bainbridge Island apartment when he enters the kitchenette in boxers, socks and long-sleeve t-shirt, grabs a beer from the refrigerator, sits at the table with a window to the rainy morning, pops the top, takes a gulp, stares out the window, takes two more that empty the can he puts in a bin full of them, leaves.
SOUND OF LOUD HORN.
2. Henry on the ferry nearing Seattle, dressed for the weather, looking over the rail. He sneaks a sip from the can of beer he pulls from a pocket, puts it back.
3. Henry at work, a mechanic under a car rolling out from underneath it on a creeper-dolly, has hands greasy, his name on the patch on his shirt. He has a brief exchange with a co-worker about a vehicle. Bill will get to it when he's back from lunch.
4. Henry at lunch, pizza and bottle of beer, downtown Seattle, observing the street and sidewalk activity when he looks up from the book (TBD) he is reading. He finishes his pizza and beer, leaves
5. Etc.
________________
So he gets the call from the cousin whose father - Henry's uncle - has committed suicide (hose from exhaust pipe to cab of old Suburban) and left Bill his trailer in the desert south of Deming, New Mexico, west of the Florida Mountains.
Henry quits job, leaves for Deming - transportation TBD - to assume the trailer. He meets (gay) cousin (and cousin's partner) to get the keys to trailer, Suburban, shed. Cousin and partner spend the night, leave the next morning.
Henry enjoys his first day and night (under starry sky), is quick to Home Improvement. A visit to the hardware store introduces him to the animal shelter he later visits to get a dog, thus meeting Her (name TBD), assistant manager of the shelter. Instant chemistry.
Game on.
