this man

I know this man,

you won’t see him again

after his shop comes in.

He’ll find land,

build and settle in

and here will become a place he’d been.

———-

I know this man.

He’ll disappear

behind big beard and wall.

He’s had this planned

and year after year

has answered the call.

————

I know this man.

He keeps to himself

all that matters most.

He shows the hand

of somebody else

when he has to play ghost.

————-

I know this man.

He wants one thing.

When he gets it he’s gone

like the guy in the band

who said he couldn’t sing,

and then one day you hear his song.
